How To Store Breast Milk :
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before cutting the opening of milk bag, and pour the breast milk in the bag;
- Squeeze out the air as much as possible, then seal the bag;
- Check whether the bag has been sealed properly and put the milk bag upright;
- Write the squeezing date, time and volume of breast milk on the labeling area or with a sticker;
- Do not fill milk more than 2/3 of the limit which is around 140ml in order to reduce the split risk of the milk storage bags after frozen;
- Store breast milk in the fresh compartment, away from the refrigerator door, to avoid changes in temperature that may affect the breast milk;
- Recommended breast milk storage time:
1. If it is under room temperature (25℃), the bag can be stored up to 6-8 hours (Do not store breast milk at room temperature during hot season);
2. If it is in the fresh compartment, it can be stored for 24 hours (single door) – 72 hours (two-door);
3. If it is in freezer, it can be stored for 3 months.
How To Thaw and Use Stored Breast Milk:
- Always check the date and time marked on the milk bag before using;
- Do not use undated milk, or milk that has been stored too long;
- Thaw frozen breast milk in the refrigerator or under cool running tap water. After thawing, breast milk should be stored in the refrigerator for no more than 24 hours;
- Before feeding the breast milk to your baby, simply thaw it at room temperature or placed in warm water below 55 °C to warm up. When the temperature sensor on the milk bag becomes a suitable color (about 40°C), you can tear the opening of the milk bag and pour the breast milk into the bottle to feed the baby. And the breast milk must be consumed within 1 hour.
Point To Notes:
- Do not use high temperature or microwave heating, high temperature or microwave heating will seriously damage the nutrition and antibodies in the breast milk.
- The frozen breast milk may be separated into layers, which is normal and safe. The top layer is actually the fat, which is pale yellow. Just shake it slightly before drinking, so that the two layers can be mixed evenly.
- You should not refreeze the remaining breastmilk. If your baby does not finish a feeding, you should throw it away.
